'' d Group ... Again '' exhibition at CerModern
The d Group’s works, Turkey's first contemporary art movement and one of the pioneers of Turkish painting, will be displayed after 85 years of its establishment at CerModern between January 18 and 25 March.
It was founded by Abidin Dino, Nurullah Berk, Zeki Faik İzler, Cemal Tollu, Elif Naci and Zühtü Müridoğlu in 1933 with an aesthetic rebellion. After artist like Bedri Rahmi Eyuboglu, Eşref Üren, Eren Eyüboğlu, Arif Kaptan, Salih Urallı, Hakkı Anlı, Sabri Berkel, Fahrünnisa Zeyd, Leopold Levy, Zeki Kocamemi, Seref Akdik, Cemal Nadir Güler and Nusret Suman joined the group, it took the attention of art circles in a very short time.
The group formed its name after the 4th Unity of the Turkish Painting Art, and since the letter‘d’ corresponds to the 4th letter in the alphabet the group its name became ‘d Group’. The group contributed to an artistic effort to Turkey who was living politically and cultural pains in 1933.
The exhibition ‘d Group ...Again’ will be exhibited at CerModern from January 18 to March 30. The exhibition consists about 70 pieces produced by 21 artists between the 1933-1960 years.
