9 September – 23 October 2016

Mexican artist Sandra Pani’s “Of Being a Tree” exihibition will open at CerModern on September 9.

Sandra Pani took up art studies when she was very young, with painting and music. Academically, she studied in Mexico, Italy and United Kingdom with great masters of drawing and painting. Pani exhibited in both individual and collective exhibitions in different cities of Mexico, Germany, United States, Italy and United Kingdom.

‘Of Being a Tree’ arose from artist’s personal experiences between the symbolic and concrete world. Pani takes it as one of her deepest artistic experiences. “Of Bening a Tree” is a collection of 36 large format grafite drawings, which explore links between being internal and external, a highly personal exposition that lets people share this exploration, as Pani says, “to identify us with another reality: our rich spiritual world is connected with natüre”.

The exposition expresses the process of dismemberment-reintegration and the birth of new life in a creative way. Mexican poet Alberto Blanco wrote about Pani’s studies : ‘’Her paintings are blood that is music that is wind dreaming in the branches of the tree that is also our body. Because it is about going beyond, seeing beyond, finding poetry in the very act of painting. At the end of the day, it is about reaching aspire of the flower of the heart.’’

‘Of Being Tree’ is accompanied by a musical arrangement, composed expressively for the exposition by master Mario Lavista. According to Lavista’s, this multidisciplinary effort has the same purpose: pulling the pictorical and musical processes together in such a manner that both abiding by the same compositive strategy, which deals with fate of growth or gradual expansion of the elements, making possible the constant transformation of the human body into a tree.
